About me and my therapy practice

Equine Therapy

Building on my work as a therapist, academic tutor, and group facilitator, I am passionate about my role as an EAGALA-certified Equine Practitioner. In this field-based practice, I partner with horses to take a holistic approach to supporting individuals on their therapeutic and personal development journeys.

My approach to equine-assisted psychotherapy is experiential and reflective, informed by my background in counselling and education. It particularly resonates with individuals who have a deep appreciation for nature and seek to harness its grounding, restorative benefits to support personal growth and well-being.

Equine-assisted therapy can be a powerful tool for a wide range of individuals. It has proven effective in supporting those living with various mental health challenges, including nonverbal individuals, by fostering trust, emotional regulation, and self-confidence through the unique, nonverbal connection that can form between humans and horses.

Beyond its clinical applications, equine-assisted therapy also offers valuable opportunities for personal growth and development. It can help individuals build resilience, strengthen communication skills, and deepen emotional awareness in a grounded, nature-based setting.

Practice description

Why Horses? 馃悗

Horses are herd animals, deeply sensitive to their environment and the emotional states of those around them. They mirror our behaviours and feelings, offering immediate and honest feedback. This makes them powerful, non-judgmental partners in the therapeutic process, helping us to better understand ourselves, improve communication, and build trust.

At the heart of this work is a respect for nature and the belief that true connection鈥攚ith ourselves, with others, and with the natural world鈥攆osters diversity, inclusivity, and inner balance. I have witnessed how these sessions can be truly transformative, enhancing individuals鈥 sense of connection, confidence, and clarity.

This practice welcomes individuals and small groups, from school-age children through to adults.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a grounded and qualified Humanistic Counsellor whose studied modalities include Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt therapy, and Transactional Analysis, I have the asset of a theoretical tool-chest that lends itself to considering how your past may determine and affect your life today.

I value difference and deliver a multi-cultural and diverse service that will support you on your path of self-discovery. I am not able to fix you as I don鈥檛 have all of the answers, but I will support you in any uncertain and problematic places that you want to explore. I have experience of supporting people with general anxiety, physical and mental abuse, emotional conflicts, shame, depression, low mood, lack of confidence and self-esteem, grief, bereavement (NHS & community based), loneliness and lack of focus, resolving trauma, managing addictions and all areas of difficulty that these obstacles or problems can bring to the fore.

I value individual difference, honesty, integrity and connection, you will be supported in finding your own path in making sense of whatever made you seek counselling as I strongly believe that all individuals have the ability to become empowered in finding their own answers. I know that I am not a fixer, and I don鈥檛 have all the answers, although I might have a suggestion or two. I know that I am OK to sit with people in chaos. I can tolerate stuckness, and I am not afraid to be afraid, nor walk alongside you into an unknown place.鈥 I will endeavour to work In Harmony with you at all times.

Online Counselling

My online individual therapy consists of regular long-term & short-term work, online video, and telephone counselling, usually weekly, 50 minutes sessions within a confidential space with myself and accessed by you from the privacy of your own home/space, thus saving time and reducing costs.

In-Harmony Online therapy is designed to make the service we provide as broadly accessible as possible with improved simplicity of connection (all you need is access to a PC, tablet or smartphone), which can for many be less intimidating than a more traditional consultation room setting, with no loss of success compared to face-to-face counselling.

Telephone Counselling

Clients who don鈥檛 have regular access to the internet opt for Telephone Counselling, where all you need is a landline or mobile phone. Telephone Counselling provides a flexible and convenient alternative for disabled and housebound clients, providing a relaxed way of receiving personalised affordable therapeutic support at home.

I am committed to working In-Harmony and with diversity by extending my reach to clients who would struggle either physically or emotionally to be with me in a consultation room.
