About me and my therapy practice
I'm an integrative, Íø±¬ÃÅ accredited therapist. I aim to work with you in a warm, down to earth and trustworthy way.
My core approach is humanistic and relational, which means I see you as an individual and human being. My hope is that we can build a relationship where you can think about what’s bought you to therapy, as well as who and how you are in the world.
My clients come to therapy for many reasons. Some of these include: anxiety, stress, self esteem, heightened emotions, low mood, relationships, or feeling stuck.
I often work with clients who describe themselves as over-thinkers, or who want to think about their ways of relating - both how they relate to others and their ways of relating to themselves.
You might be seeking therapy because there's a clear issue you want to work on, equally you may have a more subtle sense of something not feeling quite right. I work with clients wanting to create space to think and explore, to notice themselves and grow their self awareness.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on several therapeutic approaches, so that we can find a way of working that suits you. I have an interest in anxiety and attachment and tend to hold in mind that our early lives may influence our present. I also believe that noticing and exploring the stories we tell about ourselves can make room for change and new ways of seeing ourselves.
In my experience, therapy tends to grow self-awareness, and the living of a more fulfilled life, grounded in a better sense of who you are and what you want.
Finding a therapist can feel a daunting process so please get in touch and we can explore how it might be for us to work together.
Practice description
In person: I work with clients from a counselling room ten minutes walk from Reading Centre. My room is part of a set of therapy rooms and there is a waiting room and other practitioners in the building.
Online: Since the pandemic, working online has become routine and is the preference for some clients, allowing easy access where face to face would not be possible. I have found it to be a different yet equally effective format for therapy. Please do get in touch if you'd like to talk though working together online.
I offer both short-term (time limited) or open-ended therapy.
My first session
My first session is an opportunity for us to begin to get to know each other. We'll talk through what's bringing you to therapy and start to think about how therapy might help. It's a chance for you to ask any questions you might have about therapy or myself and get a sense of what it might be like for us to work together.
Towards the end of the session we'll think together about whether we might be a good fit and you can then take some time to consider whether you'd like to begin working together.
