Counselling changes lives – not just for individuals, but for families and communities. Our vision is for a society where everyone has access to high-quality, ethical counselling, psychotherapy and coaching. We can’t achieve this without the leadership of committed Trustees.Ìý

This year, as part of our AGM, we’re electing three new Trustees via our nomination and election process.

This is an exciting time to influence the direction of your Association and help deliver our ambitious five-year strategy: Increasing Our Reach.

The Trustee role

While there’s no single formula to being a successful Trustee, all our volunteers share a passionate commitment to improving the mental health of the nation, championing the skills and experience of our members and leading the continued development of the counselling professions.

As a Trustee, you’ll contribute strategic insight and governance expertise, helping us measure performance and ensuring we remain a strong, ethical and forward-thinking organisation. We want our Board to reflect the diversity of our membership and encourage all members to consider standing for election.

What you'll bring to the Board

We’re particularly seeking individuals who share our values and have strong analytical, interpersonal and leadership skills. Experience of charity governance is helpful, as is a sound understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our profession. Our organisational values and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion will underpin everything you do.ÌýÌý

Importantly, you’ll be enthusiastic about the role and the work of the Board, which will be reflected in your devotion to the necessary time and effort to being an effective TrusteeÌý

Finding our next Chair

As our current Chair, Natalie Bailey, steps down from her role at this year’s AGM, the Board of Trustees will be appointing her successor. If you have experience in leading a charity or understand what it takes to shape and deliver the important work of a Board, we encourage you to stand for election as a Trustee first, making you eligible to apply for this key leadership role in the future.

The nomination process

The nomination process opens on Monday 15 April. Look out for an email from the Íø±¬ÃÅ Board of Trustees, with more information about how to nominate.Ìý

We’re partnering with MiVoice electoral services again this year to independently manage our Trustee elections, as well as the motions and resolutions process. Please read the full Íø±¬ÃÅ Trustee role profile before completing the nomination process.Ìý
