Wounded Healers; The experiences of counsellors with lived experience of addictive behaviours
Hi, my name is Russ and I am completing a research dissertation for my BSc at Farnborough University Centre. I am looking for counsellors who are willing to spare approximately 40 minutes to take part in a semi-structured interview on Microsoft Teams. Interviews will then be transcribed and analysed using Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis to gain an insight into their experiences.
This research aims to enhance understanding of the 鈥榳ounded healer鈥� identity within the counselling profession. It will focus on the experiences of counsellors with lived experience of addictive behaviours who have worked with individuals struggling with problematic drinking or substance use. I believe that this research is important to gain insight into this important demographic of counsellors whose experiences seem to have been under represented in research so far. As most studies seem to focus on counsellors working in treatment centres, and those in the USA, I aim to contribute data that will be more representative of British counsellors from a broader range of agencies or private practice.
Full briefing, and de-briefing will be supplied and this research has been approved by the University of Surrey Ethics Committee.
